90-105km 1600m. More an area to explore, south of us, than a single ride. Everything from 80km to 150km.

We have been riding in the area for years and love the remoteness of the Slate Mountains. The twisting mountain roads have been resurfaced, so this route offers some great winding roads. It’s a great way to get a sense of what cycling in the area is all about. We recommend you do the route on a comfortable road bike, like a Roubaix with lots of gears, compliance and fatter tires for all-day comfort.
98km | 2 Climbs, 1 steep section | Good Road with a few gnarly sections downhill.
This route goes up Gaoshan, the first sharp climb, its optional and you can just stay on the good main road. ย After the longer climb it loops around the reservoir anti-clockwise and goes up Slate Hill, returning back.
70-90km 800m to 1200m. Our relaxed Sunday ride. Various extensions. Rolling with a short, sharp hill. This is our classic route, and the sharp section can be omitted to make it a relatively flat ride. The road is a bit rough in places, but it’s getting smoother each year.
100km 1800m. A classic hill climb in East China! 25km from Wildhomestay to the bottom of Daming. Then 25km 1250m up. The climb is great and described as the Chinese Babyย Mont Ventoux.ย .
