The Huizhou Multi Day Tours
Huizhou, where we are located, was a key centre of ink calligraphy and painting in China due to its brush-making and inkstone production! Huizhou also has a long and rich cultural history that was important to China’s development during the Ming & Qing Dynasties. Not only were important trade routes established, but China’s first powerful migrants came from the area, running some of China’s largest businesses!!! Wealth was brought home, culture developed, and today you can see this firsthand on your trip. Tours can be tailored if needed based on your skill and comfort levels, and can either be self-supported or supported with a Van.
Our MDT’s start and finish at the homestay, and you get to experience the wider area, staying in nice inns and hotels en route, cycling through our amazing landscape. The routes we take you on, we know well and have been tweaked over the years. We are confident you will get a great experience of natural, rural, and ancient China. We are very careful in our planning to balance out the cycling experience, combining it with authentic visits to local cultural landmarks and diverse and interesting places to stay at.
Benefits
- Spend more time having a great experience and less time flaffing about.
- Great value to experience balance.
- For your own group at your own pace and time.
- Saves you a bunch of time before and during the experience.
- Minimizes the unknowns in route planning. The roads are constantly changing, under construction, and we know the current situation.
- Don’t miss the interesting sites and places. We know what is worthwhile and what is not to experience and the best times to visit.
- Support when you need it.

The above are for reference only.
A final quote will be provided after a rough itinerary and you confirm your dates.
Q. How long in advance do we need to book
A. Ideally, a month beforehand. It’s best you start a Q&A session with us early so we can sort out the best time, weather, and booking-wise. The best places during National holidays get expensive and are booked 2 or more months in advance.
Q. What time of year is best for a tour?
Autumn is the best time. Dry and warm days.
Spring is next best. A little wetter.
Summer is hot. Only recommended for early morning rides. We do not suggest riding between July 1st and August 15th due to summer rains and heat.
Early winter, up to December, is not too bad. January and February are cold, and there can be snow and ice on the high hills/mountains.
Q. I’m not an experienced or very fit cyclist, are these tours suitable for me?
A. We would try to find something suitable for you with shorter, less hilly routes and would highly recommend you get van support. We also have ebikes to rent, which can help out with some of the hills and longer days. We will analyze what’s feasible and fun for you after our Q&A session.
Q. How do I follow the routes?
A. Easily done on your phone or bike computer. We have bike computers we can rent if needed. We also provide maps and detailed plans in pdf which are provided post booking. Most of the routes are easy to follow, and if you can use apps like Google Maps or Amap, you are good to go.
Q. I don’t understand Chinese. Will I cope?
A. Yes. We provide English support in wechat. Wechat has a translation function as well. Translation apps work well on iOS and Android. People are very helpful, and you will always get support.
Q. How dangerous is it?
A. Riding in China is generally safe and our roads have minimal traffic. It’s as safe as riding in Europe on rural roads. Hospitals and clinics are numerous in the area. We have been organizing races in China for years, so we know what to do in case of an emergency. We will talk you through an emergency process post booking.
Q. What type of gear do i need to bring?
A. A bike, or rent one of our gravel, mtb or ebikes. A helmet and appropriate cycling clothing. Bikepacking or bike touring bags and gear if you are not taking a van. 2 water bottles. A bike computer if you have. A pump and spare inner tubes. Post booking we will provide you a clear list depending on the length, season and if you have van support.
Q. What happens if my bike has a mechanical along the way?
A. We will point you in the direction of your nearest reliable bike shop who should be able to fix most issues. You should not be more than 200km, a few hours drive, away from one and can help organize van support if needed. We suggest you use new tubless endurance tires to minimize flats.
