125km 1900m. The new standard south route. Very nice. 3 main mid climbs and a few shorter ones.
90-105km 1600m. More an area to explore, south of us, than a single ride. Everything from 80km to 150km.
We have been riding in the area for years and love the remoteness of the Slate Mountains. The twisting mountain roads have been resurfaced, so this route offers some great winding roads. It’s a great way to get a sense of what cycling in the area is all about. We recommend you do the route on a comfortable road bike, like a Roubaix with lots of gears, compliance and fatter tires for all-day comfort.
There are lots of options in this area.
98km | 2 Climbs, 1 steep section | Good Road with a few gnarly sections downhill.
This route goes up Gaoshan, the first sharp climb, its optional and you can just stay on the good main road. After the longer climb it loops around the reservoir anti-clockwise and goes up Slate Hill, returning back.
